Born in Paris, he was the eldest son of Countess Marguerite Cassini and Count Alexander Loieski.
He studies Political Science, and Art but eventually became interested in Fashion studying under the French couturier, Jean Patou. The story goes that he came to America with only " a tuxedo, two tennis rackets, a title and talent." Wikipedia. Eventually he found himself in Hollywood playing tennis with none other than the head of Paramount Pictures, who just happened to be looking for a new designer. Well Cassini got the job and began designing for the likes of Veronica Lake and Rita Hayworth among many others.

After WWII he expanded into ready to wear. He became well known as the "Secretary of Style" for Jacqueline Kennedy creating the "Jackie Look" which was copied by women the world over. The name Oleg Cassini can be found in many licensed products from scarves and nail polish to luggage and even luxury cars! He is considered by some to be the "father and innovator of designer licensing" Wikipedia
